Penn State and the rest of the country put the finishing touches on the 2024 recruiting class Wednesday, but the Nittany Lions pulled in one commitment for the future on National Signing Day.

The commitment comes from Dayshaun Burnett, an elite in-state linebacker out of Imani Christian Academy in Pittsburgh. He previously announced a top 3 of Pitt, Rutgers and Penn State, but he confirmed a pledge to James Franklin’s program Wednesday afternoon.

Listed at 6-foot-2.5 and 215 pounds, the 247 Sports Composite rates Burnett as the 39th linebacker in the 2025 recruiting class. He’s also the No. 13 player from Pennsylvania for the cycle.

Burnett is already the 10th player to commit to Penn State for 2025, a group that is currently ranked 6th in the country per the 247 Sports Team Composite. The Nittany Lions also hold commitments from 5 Pennsylvania players including 4 of the state’s top-15 players for the cycle.
