Penn State is working on the 2024 recruiting class, and the Nittany Lions picked up a major defensive line prospect on Saturday.

The player is TA Cunningham, a 4-star DL who is playing his senior season at Miami Central High School in Florida. Prior to his commitment, Cunningham set a group of 5 finalists that included Michigan, Oklahoma, Miami and Texas A&M alongside the Nittany Lions.

Cunningham is listed at 6-foot-6 and 275 pounds and is a 4-star recruit per the 247 Sports Composite. He’s also rated as the 30th DL in the country and the 234th overall player for the 2024 recruiting class.

Cunningham spent his first two seasons of high school in Georgia before spending the 2022 season at Los Alamitos in California. Now, he’s transferring to Miami Central for his senior season and will begin his college career at Penn State.

Impact on Penn State’s 2024 class

The addition of Cunningham brings Penn State up to 24 players for the cycle, a group that is ranked 5th nationally per the 247 Sports Team Composite. That ranks 3rd in the B1G behind only Ohio State and Michigan as top-5 classes nationally at this point.

Cunningham is the 4th DL or Edge prospect to commit to James Franklin’s program this cycle, and he’s the highest-rated DL pledge for the Nittany Lions at this point.
