Penn State LB Brandon Smith learned about B1G Defensive Player of the Week honor in hilarious way

Brandon Smith had no idea why he was being treated as the the big man on campus.
The junior linebacker was minding his business in class when a fellow student spilled the tea that he was the B1G Defensive Player of the Week.
Smith was hilariously oblivious prior to the interaction:
Brandon Smith said he found out about his player of the week award from someone in one of his classes — he had no idea what that person was talking about when they brought it up.

Smith captured the award for his performance during Penn State’s victory vs. Auburn. Smith amassed a career-high 10 tackles, along with a tackle for a loss, a pass breakup and a quarterback hurry.
The 6-foot-3, 241-pound Smith has totaled 25 overall tackles this season. Smith is the first Penn State player to win the award since Robert Windsor in 2018.
Next up for Penn State is a Sept. 25 home matchup vs. in-state opponent Villanova.
