Penn State linebacker Jamari Buddin has announced his plans to enter the transfer portal and pursue a change of scenery in 2023.

He made his decision public via social media.

“Being at Penn State has been nothing short of amazing,” Buddin wrote in a Twitter post. “I can’t thank Coach [James] Franklin and the staff for giving me an opportunity to further my academic and athletic career at one of the most prestigious schools in the country.

“After reflecting on my time here at Penn State, it is in my best interest that I enter the transfer portal with 3 years of eligibility remaining.”

The Ypsilanti, Michigan product was a 4-star in the 2021 class and redshirted his first year on campus.

Buddin was the No. 40 linebacker and No. 11 prospect in Michigan, per 247Sports. He appeared in 8 games during his redshirt freshman season, recording 8 tackles with a few fumble recoveries.

Buddin leaves the Nittany Lion program with 3 years of eligibility remaining.
