Two Penn State football players are no longer with the program, according to reports.

On Tuesday, 247Sports reported that linebacker Manny Bowen and wide receiver Irvin Charles are no longer on the team. Bowen missed the final three games of the season because of a suspension and was not going to participate in the Fiesta Bowl against Washington. Charles appeared in 11 games this season.

“Manny Bowen and Irvin Charles are no longer members of the Penn State football team due to a violation of team rules,” a team spokesperson said, according to 247Sports. “We appreciate their contributions to the program and wish them success in the future.”

Bowen was a significant contributor on the defensive side of the ball for the Nittany Lions in the first nine games of the season, totaling 51 tackles and 3.5 stops for loss. He tallied 137 tackles and 12.5 tackles for loss in three seasons in Happy Valley.

Charles played in 25 games in two seasons for Penn State, including 11 appearances this fall. He had just one catch for four yards this year. Last season, he caught two passes for 106 yards and a touchdown.
