Penn State’s special teams unit is getting a little more depth.

On Monday, the Nittany Lions added a punter through the transfer market. Former Norfolk State punter Taylor Goettie announced via Twitter that he’s transferring to Penn State to finish his college career.

“Thank you to the Penn State coaches for giving me this incredible opportunity to continue my dreams,” Goettie wrote on Twitter. “Can’t wait to see what’s in strong for my future [in] Happy Valley.”

Goettie completed the 2018 season averaging 42.1 yards per punt. For that average, he was a second-team All-MEAC selection. It was a nearly four-yard improvement from his freshman year in 2017.

According to StateCollege.com, Goettie will sit the 2019 season due to NCAA transfer rules. But with the Nittany Lions having returning punter Blake Gillikin at the position, they should be in good shape.
