Penn State offensive lineman Juice Scruggs was injured in a car accident and will miss all of spring practice, head coach James Franklin said on Wednesday.

Scruggs is expected to compete for a more permanent role on the offensive line next fall, especially with some of the departures Penn State experienced after the 2018 season. But he’ll be waiting until fall to get back on the field.

“Without getting into specifics, and I’d ask you please to respect the privacy of the family, Juice Scruggs got into a car accident and will be out for spring ball,” Franklin said, according to 247Sports.

Scruggs landed at Penn State in the summer of 2018 and was ranked as the fourth-best center in the recruiting class. He was a former four-star prospect.

Last season, Scruggs appeared in one game for the Nittany Lions.
