His recruitment has picked up steam in recent weeks, as he chose Penn State over offers from Nebraska and Iowa. He made the decision after earning an offer from James Franklin during a visit over the weekend.
“It was beyond anything I could have imagined,” van den Berg told 247Sports about his visit. “It was everything and more that I could have imagined … Out of all the schools I visited, I never felt such a place, like these people value me so much more than just a player”
Van den Berg is expected to enroll this week and begin working with the team immediately.
He’s the 17th member of Penn State’s 2021 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 21 nationally and No. 6 in the Big Ten according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
