Penn State posts largest margin of victory of James Franklin era with rout of Idaho
Penn State was not looking to waste any time making a statement in Saturday’s game.
The Nittany Lions rolled into their Week 1 matchup with Idaho as big favorites and wasted no time putting up a big lead. James Franklin’s squad built a 65-0 lead before Idaho scored, and they went on to win the game by an incredible 79-7 score.

Penn State racked up over 600 yards of offense in the rout while limiting the Vandals to 145 total yards of offense. The big win wasn’t just impressive, it was also the best of Franklin’s tenure in Happy Valley.
The margin of victory of 72 points is the highest for his time with the Nittany Lions and eclipses his previous mark of 63 points. That margin was set in 2017 against Maryland.
Needless to say, this mark will probably stand for longer than two years.

52-0 over Akron (2017)
