Penn State RB Journey Brown talks Cotton Bowl Classic preparation
There is no rest for Penn State this holiday season, as the Nittany Lions prepare for a Cotton Bowl Classic contest against Memphis on Saturday, Dec. 28. James Franklin and company are preparing to leave Arlington, Texas with a win.
On Wednesday morning, Journey Brown talked about the team’s preparation for the matchup on Saturday. He also talked about how he’s personally getting ready for the showdown against a really good Memphis squad.
“First of all, I took a step back and just looked around,” Brown said. “It’s a big blessing to be in this situation, just be able play and practice in the Cowboys’ stadium.
“Then I got back to business, working on lowering my shoulders, getting my pads right, reading the blitzes, reading the safeties and all that good stuff. Just getting into my groove here.”
Penn State enters the Cotton Bowl with a 10-2 record with a chance to win 11 games for the third time in four seasons. Memphis was the highest-ranked Group of Five team this season and finished with a 12-1 record.
Brown has been Penn State’s leading rusher this season, totaling 688 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground. He also had 127 yards and a score on 13 catches.
