Penn State won big on the field on Saturday, cruising past Maryland to complete an 11-1 regular season that will almost assuredly turn into a College Football Playoff berth.

The Nittany Lions are playing for big things in 2024. But that doesn’t mean they don’t have their eyes on 2025, too.

While Penn State was beating Maryland, it was reportedly hosting Bryce Baker, the No. 4 dual-threat quarterback in the 2025 class in ESPN’s recruiting rankings, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

There’s a twist though. Baker has already committed to North Carolina for next year. But the Tar Heels just fired head coach Mack Brown, and, according to ESPN, Baker has a very strong relationship with UNC offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey. With Brown gone, Lindsey’s future in Chapel Hill is very much up in the air, and that means that Baker’s future might be, too.

“I want to go to UNC and Coach Lindsey staying will have influence in my decision, so I hope he does (remain with the program),” Baker told ESPN’s Eli Lederman. “But I will be visiting Penn State this weekend in hopes to understand what they offer also.”

This is a storyline to follow into the early offseason, as the decision of one offensive coordinator (Lindsey) will likely have a lot to do with where one of the top quarterbacks in next year’s class ends up.
