The opponent for Penn State’s Homecoming game has been announced.

An announcement from Penn State revealed that the school’s 2022 Homecoming will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22. The Nittany Lions are scheduled to host Minnesota that weekend.

Penn State and Minnesota have played 15 teams with the Nittany Lions owning a 9-6 all-time advantage. The Golden Gophers won the most recent meeting, a 31-26 decision in the Twin Cities in 2019.

This year’s trip to Happy Valley will mark Minnesota’s first since 2016. Penn State won that game in an overtime thriller, 29-26. The Nittany Lions rode the momentum from that game all the way to a B1G title and a Rose Bowl appearance.

Penn State is coming off a 7-6 season in 2021 and is looking to re-establish itself as a contender in the B1G East in 2022. This year will mark James Franklin’s ninth with the program. The Nittany Lions are 67-34 with a bowl appearance every season except 2020.
