In 2020, Penn State started 0-5 for the first time in team history.

Fast forward to 2021.

The Nittany Lions are 3-0, ranked No. 6, and have gotten there by beating two ranked teams along the way — also the first time in team history.

Penn State confirmed that they are getting back to its winning ways after the over-capacity White Out crowd at Beaver Stadium saw their 28-20 win over Auburn. The win comes after a dominating 44-13 win over MAC champion Ball State and a season-opening 16-10 win over No. 18 Wisconsin.

One key is the play of quarterback Sean Clifford, who is bouncing back off of a rough 2020 season. While having to deal with playing under his third offensive coordinator in as many years (Mike Yurcich) he has stepped up. Clifford threw eight interceptions during the Nittany Lions 0-5 start last season, but this season he has been picked off just once in 94 attempts through three games.

It’s a strong start for the Nittany Lions faithful, and puts them currently in the hunt for its first B1G title since 2016 and even a first-ever CFP appearance.

Penn State hosts Villanova at 11:00AM on Saturday, Sept. 25.
