Penn State was dominant on Saturday against Kent State, as the Nittany Lions defeated the Golden Flashes, 56-0.

It was one of the most dominating offensive performances in Penn State history, as they broke a 98-year old record with their 718 yards of offense.

It was a balanced offensive attack, as Drew Allar threw for 309 of the team’s 409 total passing yards. He also threw for 3 touchdowns. The ground game of the Nittany Lions was equally as impressive, as they ran the ball 50 times for 309 yards. Nicholas Singleton had 11 carries for 81 yards, while Kaytron Allen had 11 carries for 66 yards.

As good as the offense was, the defense was equally as impressive while allowing only 67 total yards of offense. The Golden Flashes were only 2-of-13 passing the ball for 18 yards, while also rushing the ball 30 times for 49 yards.

The 718 total yards of offense from Penn State compared to the 67 by Kent State is a statistic that hadn’t been seen in college football in the last 20 years.

Penn State will look for another dominating performance next week as they host an Illinois team that is undefeated coming off a big win at Nebraska. This figures to be a matchup of top 20 teams and could be one of the biggest games of Week 5.
