Penn State snags 6-foot-2 safety commitment from Virginia for 2020

James Franklin has Penn State headed in the right direction.

The Nittany Lions may not be making the College Football Playoff just yet, but Franklin has taken the program’s recruiting to another level. A CFB Playoff appearance may be on the horizon sooner than one may think.

On Friday, Franklin’s recruiting efforts showed once again, and this time, it came way via a safety from Virginia in Elijah Gaines:

Gaines is a 6-foot-2 prospect who ranks as a 3-star player from Alexandria, Va. Gaines is rated as the No. 41 safety in the Class of 2020. He holds scholarship offers from Wisconsin, Michigan, Notre Dame, Duke and others.

As it stands, Penn State’s 2020 class is now made up of 26 members, ranking No. 14 in the country and No. 3 in the Big Ten.
