Former LSU quarterback TJ Finley will announce his commitment on Monday, according to 247Sports.

Penn State is believed to be one of a handful of finalists, along with Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss and Florida.

Penn State’s quarterback situation is uncertain heading into summer workouts. Sean Clifford is currently expected to be the starter, but he has been inconsistent as a passer the last two seasons.

Finely would give James Franklin a serious second option to compete with Clifford for the starting job.

In his lone season with LSU, Finley completed 80-of-140 passes for 941 yards, five touchdowns and five interceptions. He also scored one rushing touchdown, but wasn’t much of a threat on the ground (34 yards on 29 carries).

Finley was a 3-star quarterback in the class of 2020, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

Shoring up the quarterback position is one of Penn State’s biggest mandates this offseason. The Nittany Lions have a talented roster, but haven’t found a way to get consistency out of that position since Trace McSorley graduated.

Finley’s announcement is expected on Monday.
