If you didn’t see on Saturday, Jahan Dotson put on a wide receiving clinic against Ohio State.

The Penn State wide receiver made two incredible one-handed catches against the Buckeyes, with each hand getting a chance to shine. It caught the attention of both the college football world and Nittany Lion wide receiver coach Taylor Stubblefield.

As mentioned in this Sports Illustrated article, Stubblefield said he has taught his receivers that if they are going to make an attempt at a one-handed catch, they better catch it. Dotson did just that with his insane catches in Saturday’s game.

Dotson went on to catch three touchdown passes in Penn State’s loss. He’s the ring leader for a very young Nittany Lion receiving core. Stubblefield told reporters how Dotson’s performance can have an impact on the position group.

“Being able to do certain things against some of the best [defenders in the Big Ten], it gives you confidence that, ‘Hey, I can do this,'” Stubblefield said. “Now on the flip side of that, how do you handle it? How do you approach this week? You have to approach this week like last week did not happen.

“… So the young guys, they need to see it and say, ‘You know what? I’m a part of this group, and we want to be dynamic receivers who are impacting plays.’ And I think seeing a peer you look up and you work hard beside, you are like, ‘OK, I can do this, too.’ So I think if anything, it’s motivating.”

Penn State hopes that motivation leads to increased output on offense and its first win of 2020.
