Penn State needed a momentum shift towards the end of the first half after almost going into halftime down double digits. Evan Mahaffey provided that when needed.

Mahaffey took a half-court shot at the halftime buzzer, and drained it to make it an eight-point Penn State deficit. Maybe the Nittany Lions can ride this energy into the second half to take the lead.

Mahaffey is providing some good scoring off the bench so far. Mahaffey currently averages 2.5 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 0.3 assists per game. The half court shot was actually Mahaffey’s second made three-point shot of the season.

Penn State is off to a solid start this season at 11-3. A win over Michigan in Ann Arbor would be a nice addition to its resume.

One of the Nittany Lions better wins of the year was against ranked Illinois on Dec. 10 in Champaign. Road wins are not very easy to come by in the B1G and Penn State understands that very well.

After this game, Penn State will gear up for a matchup with No. 1 Purdue on Sunday.
