For the first time since the 2003 NFL Draft, Penn State has multiple first-round selections.

Defensive end Jayson Oweh was selected late Thursday night, going No. 31 overall to the Baltimore Ravens. He was the second Penn State player to be taken in the draft, behind linebacker Micah Parsons (No. 12, Dallas Cowboys).

Oweh was a borderline projection for the late-first or early-second round of this year’s draft. The Ravens liked what they saw from the Nittany Lion edge rusher and pulled the trigger.

Oweh’s production from the 2020 season was graded harshly during the draft process, as he didn’t record a single sack during the year. However, his athleticism, speed and production in previous seasons was enough to propel him into the No. 31 spot.

Last season, Oweh totaled 38 stops with 6.5 tackles for loss. Over the course of his three seasons in Happy Valley, Oweh tallied 63 tackles, 13.5 for loss, 7 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 2 passes defended.
