Miles Sanders is staying in the state of Pennsylvania to start his NFL career.
The Philadelphia Eagles selected Sanders in the second round of the NFL Draft on Friday night, taking the Penn State running back with the 53rd pick. He was the first B1G player taken in the second round.
Sanders was the primary ball carrier for Penn State in 2018, rushing for 1,274 yards and nine touchdowns while leading the Nittany Lions to a 9-4 record. In the previous two seasons, Sanders played behind star running back Saquon Barkley.
In the first two years at Penn State, Sanders didn’t see many carries and didn’t eclipse the 200-yard mark in either season. But when he jumped into the spotlight, he had little trouble adjusting and produced solid numbers throughout the year.
Sanders played in all 13 games last fall and eclipsed the 100-yard mark five times. His best performance came in a 63-24 victory over Illinois, rushing for a career-high 200 yards and three touchdowns.
Sanders is a native of Pittsburgh.
