Penn State’s overwhelming run game draws praise following 15-play TD drive
Penn State just posted by far the most impressive drive of the evening at the Orange Bowl against No. 7 Notre Dame. The Nittany Lions lead Notre Dame 10-3 heading into halftime.
The drive took 15 plays and covered 90 yards – all but 4 of which came on the ground courtesy of TE Tyler Warren, QB Allar, RB Kaytron Allen and RB Nicholas Singleton. Here’s a look at the first touchdown of the game, scored by Singleton on Play No. 15 of that monster drive:

Allen contributed 37 of the 90 yards while Warren contributed 25 yards – 21 rushing and 4 receiving. Those receiving yards were especially important and moved the chains on 4th and 2 near the Notre Dame 16.
And while both teams were slow out of the gate, Penn State has been able to run the football with relative ease so far Thursday night. The Nittany Lions already have 141 rushing yards compared to just 53 passing yards. Notre Dame has totaled just 27 yards on the ground so far.
Social media had plenty to say about Penn State’s vicious rushing attack. Check out some of the best reaction below:

Penn State perimeter run game and mixing in tempo looking just like it did in the Fiesta Bowl.
ND has no answer for it. Just like Boise in the Fiesta Bowl.
Time will tell.#CapitalOneOrangeBowl

Notre Dame didn’t feel the loss of Mills against a limited Georgia OL too much but they’re just getting gashed without him versus this Penn State run game.

Penn State, averaging 5.4 yards a rush, is bullying the Irish. Another 14+ play scoring drive to lead 10-0.
