Once again, the Penn State offense will lack two key offensive weapons.

Both Akeel Lynch and Saquon Barkley will be out on Saturday for the Lions game against Indiana. It’ll mark the second straight week that the tailbacks will be out of action.

Barkley was a true game-time decision after being a limited participant in practice this week. He and Lynch have both been out since suffering first-half injuries against San Diego State two weeks ago.

Without their top two leading rushers, the Lions will turn to freshmen Nick Scott and Mark Allen. Adding to their growing list of injuries, center Angelo Mangiro will be sidelined on Saturday. Wendy Laurent will take his place.

On the plus side, Penn State will be getting Andrew Nelson back in the lineup after he missed the last 3.5 games.

Indiana could be short-handed at tailback, as well. Jordan Howard was injured against Ohio State and figures to be limited today. He’s active, but he wasn’t running through drills in pregame warmups.

IU quarterback Nate Sudfeld, who was also sidelined in the second half against Ohio State, will start for the Hoosiers.
