5-star basketball prospect Jalen Duren will re-classify and could enroll in college for the 2021-22 season, according to a report.

That’s per college basketball insider Adam Zagoria, who adds that Duren is also considering professional routes.

He’s a 6-foot-10 center who has drawn comparison to the Miami Heat’s Bam Adebayo for his defensive motor and passing skills.

Duren, who is originally from Philadelphia, is one of the top high school basketball prospects in the country. Rivals recently ranked him as the No. 1 prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, beating out former Michigan State commit Emoni Bates.

Penn State and Michigan are two of nine collegiate finalists for Duren. He also reportedly has a $1 million offer from the G-League Ignite program, according to Zagoria’s report.

His other finalists include Villanova, Miami, Auburn, Alabama, Kentucky, UCLA and Memphis.

The Nittany Lions are a long shot in this race, especially with the G-League and a program like Kentucky in the mix. But Penn State is close to home, and Duren has the skillset to excel in any system.

Michigan would make more sense from a basketball perspective, as the Wolverines have one of the most talented rosters in the country. Juwan Howard’s 2021 recruiting class already includes two 5-stars and is ranked as the No. 1 class in the nation according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
