Arkansas defensive end Tre Williams was arrested on a DWI charge on Saturday night, according to a report from Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports. The news broke on Sunday morning.

Williams was a star at the defensive end position for the Razorbacks during the 2021 campaign. He was the team’s leading sack getter, tallying 6 for the year. He was credited with 28 total stops, as well.

Arkansas is scheduled to play Penn State in the Outback Bowl on New Year’s Day. The Razorbacks ended the year with an 8-4 record and finished ranked No. 21 in the College Football Playoff Poll.

Williams spent 4 seasons at Missouri before transferring to Arkansas for his lone year with the program. Over the course of his SEC career, the defensive end has piled up 21 tackles for loss and 14.5 sacks.

It’s unclear if there will be any punishment for Williams for the bowl game at this time.

The Outback Bowl is scheduled for a 12 p.m. ET kickoff with the game airing on ESPN. Penn State takes a 7-5 record into the postseason matchup.
