Happy Valley is going to be the site of a pretty important event soon.

According to Onward State, Penn State’s Bryce Jordan Center will be home to the 2020 Olympic Trials. Per the report, wrestler David Taylor accidently let the news slip at an Alumni Association championship mixer during the NCAA Championships.

From Onward State:

Taylor seemed to let the news slip on Saturday afternoon at the Alumni Association championship mixer while speaking to the crowd of fans in attendance. After Taylor let the cat out of the bag, athletic director Sandy Barbour said that she didn’t realize the news was ready to go public yet.

The news comes after more than a year of rumors about the Trials coming to Happy Valley. Given Penn State’s long-standing success on the mat, State College seems to be an emerging destination for wresting competition. Just last year, Rec Hall hosted the Final X World team trials.

The last major event to be held at the Bryce Jordan was in 1999, when it hosted the NCAA wrestling championship.

On Saturday morning, Penn State clinched its ninth NCAA team wrestling national title and eighth in the last nine seasons. Five wrestlers are still in the hunt for an individual championship.
