Report: James Franklin changing agents, representation

Published:
According to a Monday evening report, Penn State’s James Franklin will be making a change to his representation during the middle of the season.
According to John Brice with Football Scoop, Franklin is changing his agent and representation to Jimmy Sexton and Creative Arts Agency. Sexton represents a host of high-profile coaches in college football. Franklin has been represented by Trace Armstong of Athletes First.
The timing is particularly intriguing for a number of reasons. Despite Penn State’s shocking loss to Illinois, Franklin remains connected to coaching vacancies at LSU and USC via reports and the rumor mill.
Former USC star Carson Palmer included Franklin on a list of candidates the Trojans are considering on Monday. Additionally, Sexton’s list of clients includes Alabama’s Nick Saban, Georgia’s Kirby Smart, Ole Miss’ Lane Kiffin, and Florida’s Dan Mullen, all of the SEC with LSU looking for a replacement to Ed Orgeron.
Is Franklin making a move in preparation for negotiating a new deal at Penn State, or is this the first change of some bigger moves down the road? Time will tell, but it will be interesting to see what happens with Franklin following 2021.
