Penn State’s hard-hitting kicker is no longer with the program, according to a report.

On Monday, Penn State beat writer Bob Flounders tweeted that Joey Julius – who became famous for laying down some brutal hits on special teams – is no longer with the Nittany Lions:

According to PennLive.com, Julius had not practiced with the team during the spring and has been treated twice for an eating disorder within the last year.

Julius would’ve been entering his junior season in Happy Valley after serving as the team’s kickoff specialist last fall. In 2015, Julius was also the team’s field goal kicker. He knocked in 10-of-12 field goal attempts and hammered home 20-of-24 extra points.

It was in Penn State’s early conference matchup against Michigan that Julius started gaining his fame. On a kickoff returned by Michigan’s Jourdan Lewis, Julius lowered his shoulder and sent the Wolverines’ DB to the turf quickly:

There was no additional information as to why Julius is no longer a member of Penn State’s program.

Last season, Julius averaged over 62 yards per kickoff and recorded 45 touchbacks in the Nittany Lions’ pursuit of a B1G title.
