Talks between Mike Gesicki and the Miami Dolphins are starting to sour. This means that the former Penn State product may to play on his $10.9 million franchise tag according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Gesicki and the Dolphins apparently have until Friday to reach an agreement on his contract, which is the deadline for all franchise tagged players. He caught 73 passes for 780 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns in 2021. Gesicki appeared in all 17 regular season games for the Dolphins last season. Gesicki could be a hot commodity if this news is true.

Schefter posted about the news from his Twitter account:

“Miami’s franchised tight end Mike Gesicki and the Dolphins are not expected to reach an agreement on a contract before Friday’s deadline for franchise players to sign, per sources,” said Schefter. “Gesicki is now set to play this season on his $10.9 million tag.”
