Another B1G star has decided to skip out on the 2020 college football season and begin pursuing a future in the NFL.

Late Tuesday night, Eric Edholm of Yahoo Sports reported that star Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons will be opting out of the college football season and begin training towards the 2021 NFL Draft. Parsons was considered one of the best defensive players in college football and has been projected as a top five selection in the draft.

Parsons joins a growing list of B1G stars, which includes Minnesota wide receiver Rashod Bateman and Illinois running back Ra’Von Bonner and offensive lineman Jake Cerny.

Parsons was a big piece of Penn State’s 11-2 record in the 2019 season. The star linebacker piled up 109 tackles, 14 stops for loss and 5 sacks while appearing in all 13 games for the Nittany Lions. He also broke up 5 passes and forced 4 fumbles.

Parsons was a former 5-star recruit and a member of the Nittany Lions’ 2018 recruiting class. He spent two years in Happy Valley before opting out of the 2020 college football season.
