Report: Penn State redshirt junior DB enters name into transfer portal
Penn State redshirt junior defensive back C.J. Holmes has decided to explore options outside of State College.
Rivals.com reported on Tuesday that Holmes has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal. He would have two years of eligibility remaining at his next stop after spending two seasons with the Nittany Lions. Holmes is a former four-star prospect and initially committed to Notre Dame before transferring to Penn State ahead of the 2018 season.

Holmes appeared in eight games for the Fighting Irish in 2017, registering two tackles. He sat out the 2018 season at Penn State due to NCAA transfer rules but got onto the field this past year. In eight games, Holmes was credited with two stops.
There was no indication of where Holmes would be interested in heading next. If he does decide to leave Penn State, it would be his third school in four years.
Penn State is coming off an 11-2 season in 2019. The Nittany Lions are expected to be contenders in the B1G East and potentially a spot in the College Football Playoff this coming year.
