Penn State is reportedly moving on from offensive line coach Matt Limegrover.

Tuesday morning, the Centre Daily Times reported that Penn State and Limegrover are parting ways after four seasons. He had also been the team’s run game coordinator since 2018. The news comes a week after the Nittany Lions announced that former Minnesota offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca will take the same position at Penn State, filling in for Ricky Rahne.

Limegrover arrived at Penn State in 2016, after spending five years at Minnesota. With the Golden Gophers, he was the associate head coach, offensive coordinator and offensive line coach and was in Minneapolis from 2011-15.

“We appreciate all of Matt’s contributions to our program for the last four seasons,” Franklin said in a statement.

Many seem surprised by the decision to part ways with Limegrover, considering the Nittany Lions have been solid on the offensive line in recent years. But, this could be more to do with the change at offensive coordinator than performance-based.

Penn State wrapped up an 11-2 season with a Cotton Bowl victory over Memphis, knocking off the Tigers 53-39. It was the program’s third 11-win season in four years.
