Saquon Barkley has been a massive bright spot for the Philadelphia Eagles since they signed him this offseason. And despite another solid showing last night against the Atlanta Falcons, a costly drop that would have led to the game-winning touchdown has become the focal point.

With a 3-point lead on 3rd-and-3 with 1:46 left in the game, Eagles’ QB Jalen Hurts rolled out to the right. He found an open Barkley in the flat, delivering a perfect pass. But Barkley dropped it and the Eagles had to settle for a field goal.

On ESPN’s “Get Up” on Tuesday morning, longtime ESPN host Mike Greenberg took a shot at Barkley.

“It absolutely should have worked,” Greenberg said. “The play call worked, it fooled the defense Barkley is open as a person can be and the ball is well thrown as it can be, so it clearly should have worked. Look I never say this, but I would have caught that.”

Greenberg doesn’t have any athletic background, so his statement was the ultimate burn.

The Falcons ultimately put together a game-winning drive with Kirk Cousins leading the way for the 22-21 win and Barkley owned the massive drop in the locker room afterwords.

“I dropped the ball, let my team down today. Shouldn’t have put the defense in that position, make that catch, and the game’s over,” Barkley said Monday night, via the team’s official website.
