Saquon Barkley lands major contract extension after first career Super Bowl, per report
Saquon Barkley delivered a historic performance in his first season with the Philadelphia Eagles. Now, he’s being rewarded with a significant contract extension, according to reporting from ESPN’s Pat McAfee.
During his live show, McAfee reported that Barkley was getting a 2-year extension worth an average of $20.6 million. That deal includes $36 million due at signing and $15 million available in the form of incentives.
The deal makes Barkley the highest-paid running back in NFL history and keeps him with the Eagles through the 2028 season:

Keep in mind that the former Penn State star was just one year into a 3-year deal he signed with the Eagles this past offseason. However, the results were undeniable with Saquon Barkley becoming the 9th individual in NFL history to rush for 2,000 yards in a single season.
While Barkley likely would have broken Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record if he played in the finale, Philadelphia rested its starters. A controversial decision to some, it paid off in a major way with Barkley going on to set the combined (regular season + playoffs) rushing record in leading the Eagles to a Super Bowl.
Prior to the 2024 season, Barkley had delivered some game-changing performances but was undeniably held back by a stagnant New York Giants roster and offense. Behind Philadelphia’s impressive offensive line, Barkley rushed for 2,0005 yards with 15 total touchdowns.
Now, he becomes the first back in NFL history with a deal of $20 million per year.
