Saquon Barkley was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his tremendous performance in the New York Giants’ Week 1 win.

The Giants pulled off a comeback victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday and Barkley’s rushing attack helped secure the win. It was a surprising win for the Giants and could be the start of something new.

Barkley lifted the Giants to a 21-20 win with a late score on a 2-point conversion. He finished Week 1 with 164 rushing yards, 18 attempts, and 1 rushing touchdown. He helped out in the passing game with 6 catches for 30 yards.

This was the performance that Barkley needed to get his career back on track. Barkley suffered a torn right ACL in 2020 and he missed time in 2021 with an ankle injury. He had to work to stay healthy and Sunday’s performance was a step in the right direction for Barkley.

He had more than 1,000 rushing yards in each of his first 2 seasons with the Giants in 2018 and 2019. His numbers went down in 2020 since he only played in 2 games. He was able to play in 13 games in 2021 but he finished the season with 593 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Giants will host the Carolina Panthers in the home opener on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
