There will be a lot of talent returning to the field all throughout the B1G in 2017. NFL.com handed out some necessary props with its top 10 list it released on Friday.

Penn State running back Saquon Barkley and Michigan defensive lineman Rashan Gary were each mentioned as two of college football’s top players for the upcoming season. Barkley came in at No. 8 and Gary was right behind him at the ninth spot.

Here’s what Chad Reuter, a draft analyst for NFL.com, had to say about each player and why they were listed in the top 10.

On Barkley:

Barkley is an elusive and strong back. He’s able to carry the mail and break off the big play. He figures large in Penn State’s return to national prominence.

On Gary:

Michigan got everything it expected last season from the five-star recruit. His size and athleticism on the edge makes him a tough ask outside and an excellent pass rusher inside.

It’s not really surprising that either player was mentioned in the top 10 with some other really great players who will be back on the field this fall. Barkley is one of the early favorites in the Heisman Trophy race and Gary was one the top recruits in the 2016 class and enters his second season at Michigan.

NFL.com’s list actually ranks the top 50 college football players for the upcoming season. A few other B1G names were scattered throughout the countdown.

Here are the other players mentioned from the conference and where they were ranked:

  • No. 19 – Mike Weber, Ohio State
  • No. 26 – Trace McSorley, Penn State
  • No. 30 – Sam Hubbard, Ohio State
  • No. 32 – Nick Bosa, Ohio State
  • No. 46 – Troy Fumagalli, Wisconsin
  • No. 50 – Billy Price, Ohio State
