Saquon Barkley is reportedly not signing the New York Giants’ franchise tag and therefore will not be able to participate in New York’s upcoming offseason program. Barkley re-affirmed himself as one of the league’s top running backs last season after returning from injury.
It’s important to note that this portion of the offseason in voluntary, but since Barkley has not signed he is not officially under contract with the team. In all likelihood, Barkley will be holding out until a long-term deal can be agreed upon.
I’m told Saquon Barkley will not be signing the franchise tag & therefore will not be eligible to participate when the #NYG offseason program begins Monday. More to come on @NewsdaySports.

After back-to-back down years due to injury, Barkley had perhaps his best season in the NFL yet in 2022. He rushed for 1,312 yards with 10 touchdowns, averaging 4.4 yards per rush. Funnily, New York saw legitimate success for the first time in a while, making the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
Simply put, the Giants need Saquon Barkley. Let’s see if the 2 sides can come to an agreement.
