It appears a former Penn State star is nearing his return to the field.

During his press conference on Nov. 19, New York Giants coach Joe Judge confirmed that running back Saquon Barkley is trending to be available for the upcoming Monday Night Football matchup vs. the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Barkley has been out with an ankle injury.

The 5-foot-11, 233-pound Barkley has rushed for 195 yards and 2 touchdowns in his 5 games this season. For his NFL career, Barkley has amassed 2,539 yards and 19 touchdowns on the ground, while adding 163 receptions for 1,349 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Barkley captured NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and a Pro Bowl selection in 2018.

The Giants selected the Penn State product with the second overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. While at Penn State, Barkley was a consensus All-American (2017), captured the Paul Hornung Award, and was a two-time B1G Offensive Player of the Year (2016, 2017).
