Saquon Barkley’s return will have to wait at least 1 more week.

Barkley was officially considered questionable leading up to the New York Giants’ Sunday game against the Miami Dolphins, but the former Penn State standout has been ruled out before kickoff.

Barkley has been dealing with a high ankle sprain. Sunday marks 3 games that he has missed with the injury.

Barkley last played on Sept. 17 in the Giants’ 31-28 road win over the Arizona Cardinals. He had 17 carries for 63 yards and 1 touchdown. His only other 2023 appearance was the season-opener against the Dallas Cowboys, a 40-0 home loss. Barkley had 12 carries for 51 yards in that game that saw the Giants trailing most of the night.

The Giants are having a rough go in 2023. In Barkley’s absence, New York fell 30-12 on the road at San Francisco and 24-3 at home against Seattle.

We’ll see if Barkley can get back on the field in Week 6. Barkley’s Giants are set to travel to Buffalo for an in-state clash with the Bills on Sunday Night Football.
