Sean Clifford has Penn State up heading into halftime against Purdue. He also produced an electrifying play that gave the Nittany Lions a bit of extra cushion heading to halftime.

With less than a minute to go, Purdue had the ball deep in Penn State territory and looking to cut into a 14-10 lead. Then, Penn State forced and recovered a fumble deep in their own territory.

Still, scoring with just 30 seconds left on the clock seemed unlikely, but a pass interference call on the first play of the drive gave some life to the offense.

After an incomplete, Clifford was able to draw up a bit of magic with tight end Brenton Strange. As Clifford scrambled behind the line, Strange shifted his route and cut back to the middle of the field, losing his defender in the process.

Clifford found Strange, and the tight end did the rest, weaving in and out of traffic for 67 yards and a touchdown just before the break. Instead of close game at the half, it allowed Penn State to open up an 11-point lead at the break.

Clifford is now 8-for-15 with 141 yards and has accounted for all 3 touchdowns (1 rushing) at the break. We’ll see how the second half goes.
