Sean Clifford has earned trust of Penn State OC Mike Yurcich: 'That means a lot'
Penn State opened the season with a monumental victory on the road against No.12 Wisconsin in a hostile environment.
The game was one of the most B1G games you could ask for 0-0 halftime score cloudy and rainy with defensive plays abound. Penn State would end up prevailing 16-10 after two picks in the final 3 minutes of the game.
Penn State, in the offseason, hired former Texas OC Mike Yurcich; the Longhorns under his watch scored 42.7 points per game in 2020. The Nittany Lions did not show the offensive firepower in the game against an excellent Wisconsin defense.
QB Sean Clifford was shocked at how calm Yurcich was at the half when the score was 0-0. Clifford liked the confidence from Yurcich to keep airing it out in the 2nd half.
Audrey Snyder, beat writer for Athletic primarily covering Penn State provides more context:
Asked Sean Clifford what he learned about his OC after going through a game with him.
Yurcich was calm even during that scoreless first half. That surprised Clifford. pic.twitter.com/ZQ2qB7CKGU

Penn State’s next opponent is Ball State out of the MAC before they welcome an SEC team above the Mason-Dixon Line in the Auburn Tigers on Sept. 18.
