It looks like the bye week for quarterback Sean Clifford was very beneficial.

Clifford was back at practice on Wednesday taking reps after he exited in the first half of Penn State’s game against Iowa on Oct. 9. Clifford was seen handing the ball off in drills, as well as throwing long in some others.

There’s still no definitive update on Clifford heading into Saturday’s game against Illinois since Penn State is strict about reporting injury details from practice.

It would be monumental to get Clifford back for Saturday’s game considering Ta’Quan Roberson’s relief appearance against Iowa. Roberson went 7-of-21 for just 34 yards and was picked off twice.

Before getting hurt against the Hawkeyes, Clifford had 1,482 yards passing with 11 touchdown passes to 5 interceptions. We’ll have to see if he continues to practice as the week goes on.

Kickoff between Penn State and Illinois will be at Noon ET.
