Surprise! Penn State awards full scholarship to walk-on long snapper
Around this time every year, college football coaches reserve an open scholarship or two for a few standout walk-ons who they feel deserve to be rewarded for their hard work and dedication to the program. Penn State head coach James Franklin made his first surprise announcement of the season this week.
While meeting via Zoom, Penn State surprised long snapper Chris Stoll with a full scholarship. The former walk-on was understandably emotional after learning the news.
Penn State shared the video on social media. You’ll never get tired of these feel-good stories:

This year, Stoll will be a redshirt junior for the Nittany Lions. He played in all 13 games for the team last season, serving as the starting long snapper in each contest. He saw substantial playing time after seeing no game action through his first two years.
It’s always awesome to see players rewarded for their hard work on the field.
