Theo Johnson and Penn State are looking to gain control of Saturday’s game against Indiana after struggling throughout the first half. The opening drive of the second half went off without a hitch, and the offense finally looked impressive.

After taking the kickoff, Penn State rolled 75 yards on 12 plays in a drive that covered over 6 minutes of the clock. While the drive did include a pair of 3rd-down plays, the Nittany Lions converted both of them.

The drive eventually set up a 2nd-and-8 play from Indiana’s 16-yard line. That’s when Drew Allar targeted Johnson in the red zone.

Indiana tried to bring the pressure, but Penn State picked it up. As a result, Johnson was in man-to-man coverage down the middle of the field.

It’s the kind of matchup any QB would love, and Allar put the ball where his tight end could make a play:

So far in the game, Johnson has 2 catches for 21 yards and a touchdown vs. Indiana. Fellow TE Khalil Dinkins also has a touchdown while Tyler Warren has 2 catches for 25 yards.

Penn State is still struggling a bit to find efficiency, but the touchdown by Johnson gives the team some breathing room in the second half.
