James Franklin was under scrutiny again over the weekend. A decision to go for a two-point conversion in the third quarter trailing Minnesota 24-19 has been questioned since Saturday afternoon.

Some believe that decision cost Penn State a chance late to either force overtime or even win the game in regulation. It’s been one of the most talked-about decisions in State College this week. So, on Tuesday, after his weekly press conference, Franklin talked about the decision and a few things that frustrate him about the perception of his play-calling.

Below is Franklin’s extensive conversation about his decision, as posted by Audrey Snyder from The Athleic:

Franklin has been questioned for his decision-making in big games before, most notably his call to take the ball out of Trace McSorley’s hands last season against Ohio State, costing the Nittany Lions a marquee win.

He’s catching more flack for this two-point conversion call, and wanted to set the record straight.
