Tyler Warren captures Fiesta Bowl MVP honors
Tyler Warren has been the main cog in Penn State‘s offensive approach all season long. That was the case once again in the Fiesta Bowl against Boise State.
While the running back tandem of Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen did a lot of the heavy lifting, it was Warren who capitalized with a pair of impressive touchdown grabs vs. the Broncos. His first touchdown opened the scoring with the Nittany Lions cashing on a textbook opening drive.
In the 2nd half, it was Warren who was there to give Penn State some insurance after Boise State cut the lead to 17-14. That catch was particularly impressive with Warren elevating over a Boise State defender to secure the grab.
When it was all said and done, Warren ended the game with 6 catches for 63 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns as Penn State’s leading receiver. Afterwards, he was named the Fiesta Bowl’s Offensive MVP for his contributions.
Across 2 Playoff games, Warren now has 10 catches for 96 and 2 touchdowns. And while there may have been a few plays left on the field Tuesday night, Warren made the clutch grabs when needed for the Nittany Lions.
During the game, Warren also etched his name even further into Penn State’s record books. He now has 98 catches on the season, snapping Allen Robinson’s single-season record for the program of 97. Warren also became 1 of just 4 Penn State players to eclipse 1,100 yards receiving in a single season.
We’ll see what the star TE has in store for the Orange Bowl, but he’s still delivering a season for the ages.
