Tyler Warren’s fingerprints were all over Penn State’s overtime victory at USC on Saturday, because without the senior tight end the Nittany Lions likely would’ve flown back east with their 1st loss of the season.

Instead, Warren had the game to end all games, and Penn State improved to 6-0 while climbing to No. 3 in Sunday’s new AP Poll.

Warren’s numbers were off the charts in the 33-30 win, a game in which the Nittany Lions trailed 20-6 at halftime but refused to fold. They had Warren, so everything turned out OK.

Warren’s ridiculous 17 catches on Saturday tied an FBS and Big Ten tight end record. His equally ridiculous 224 yards receiving set a Big Ten record for a TE, and he became only the 2nd TE in Big Ten history to have 200+ yards receiving in a game.

That enough for you? Well, Warren also set Penn State’s single-game receptions mark, and he had the 2nd-most single-game receiving yards in Nittany Lions history and the most for a tight end.

And just to add a little spice to his historical afternoon in Los Angeles, Warren pulled off the Big Ten Play of the Week and probably one of the plays of the year so far in college football. He both snapped the ball and caught a 32-yard touchdown pass from Drew Allar in a trick play that just happened to ignite Penn State’s comeback early in the 3rd quarter.

Warren truly had a day for the ages to keep Penn State’s perfect season alive.
