Tyler Warren is having one of the all-time great seasons by a tight end in Big Ten history.

On Thursday night in the Orange Bowl, Warren became the 1st TE in B1G history to record 100 catches in a season. The star is also the 1st power conference TE since Texas Tech’s Jace Amaro in 2013 to reach the 100-catch mark.

Warren is now just the 5th pass-catcher in B1G history to record 100 catches in a season. The single-season B1G leader in catches is Rondale Moore, who caught 114 balls in 2018 for Purdue. Only Moore, Charlie Jones, Chris Daniels, and David Williams have joined Warren in passing the 100-catch mark.

Heading into the Orange Bowl, Warren had 98 catches for 1,158 yards and 8 TDs. The TE already broke the single-season receptions record for Penn State, beating Allen Robinson’s record of 97 catches. The TE also set the single-game catches record for Penn State earlier in 2024 after catching 17 balls against USC.

Warren hasn’t just contributed as a pass-catcher this season. The playmaker has also rushed 24 times for 197 yards and 4 TDs in 2024 while also throwing for 35 yards and 1 TD.

With a win in the Orange Bowl, Warren and the Nittany Lions would punch their ticket to the national championship game. It would be the first appearance in the game for the Nittany Lions during the College Football Playoff era. With a victory, the Nittany Lions will play either Ohio State or Texas.
