Penn State is picking up where it left off to end the first half, opening the third quarter with a takeaway and a touchdown to increase the lead.

A miscue by Auburn to begin the second half set the Nittany Lions up with great field position. After driving down to the two-yard line, Penn State dialed up a unique formation.

Taking a direct snap in the backfield was tight end Tyler Warren, serving as a quarterback in the Wildcat formation. Warren wasted no time, plunging ahead and up and over the line of scrimmage for the short touchdown.

Warren also has a catch for 22 yards on the evening.

One former Nittany Lion tight end, Pat Freiermuth, took notice of the formation and was a big fan. We’ll have to see if Penn State goes back to it in the future.
