Just a few months ago, Matt Millen was in a hospital room, awaiting a heart transplant that would save his life from a rare condition. Four months later, the Penn Stat legend is back in Happy Valley inside the broadcast booth.
Millen was back under the headset for Penn State’s spring game Saturday, the first time since taking a leave of absence early in the 2018 season to focus on his health. He received a heart transplant on Christmas Eve and just a few months later, felt capable of getting behind the microphone again.
Everyone at Big Ten Network, inside Beaver Stadium and at home watching was extremely happy to see the lead analyst back on the call. He was also recognized during the game, and received a huge standing ovation from the 61,000-person crowd.
