Aidan O’Connell does not get a lot of national hype, but one college football analyst is recognizing the Purdue starter as one of the most underrated quarterbacks heading into 2022.

Josh Pate of 247Sports highlighted O’Connell in a video shared Monday. Pate points out that O’Connell averaged over 355 yards per game in his 12 appearances last season. O’Connell also threw for 2 touchdowns 8 times, including each of the Boilermakers’ final 6 games.

Pate notes that O’Connell “should be a household name” with his 2021 showing, but isn’t quite there yet. That can change if O’Connell leads the Boilermakers to an upset victory over Penn State in Week 1.

It could be a special year for O’Connell and the Boilermakers. We’ll see how things play out.
